Mike has been playing the pipes for 40 years, starting as a child with his local band in Dublin, Howth St Lawrence Pipe Band. In 1990, he moved to Manchester, where he played for a couple of years with the City of Manchester Pipe Band, and later with the Greater Manchester Pipe Band. In 2012, he joined the Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Pipe Band as Pipe Major, competing in various parades and competitions across England and Scotland.
Some of his highlights include performing at the MEN Arena with the world-famous André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra, with the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra at Birmingham Symphony Hall, and with The Chieftains at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall. He has competed in many competitions throughout the UK and regularly plays for Burns Night suppers, weddings, including Indian weddings with Dhol drummers, birthday parties, and corporate events. A tenor drummer can also be provided if required.
